Santa Cruz Co. sheriff: Cabbie tried to sexually assault passenger
Santa Cruz County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a cab driver they say attempted to sexually assault his passenger.
On Saturday, April 20, Salvador Ceja Rocha, 46, picked up a woman from the Capitola Village around 1 a.m. in his taxi. Rocha is a driver for the Village Cab Taxi Service, deputy Ryan Kennedy said.
Kennedy said Rocha drove the woman to a secluded area of Nisene Marks State Park and tried to sexual assault her. The woman struggled with Rocha and was able to get out of the cab. Rocha drove off and the woman contacted authorities.
Rocha was arrested Monday on suspicion of assault with attempt to commit a felony sex act. Investigators believe there may be other people who have been victims of Rocha.
Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 471-1121.
