Traffic to be diverted for Sunday’s Big Sur Marathon

Traffic on Highway 1 will be restricted from 4 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday for the Big Sur International Marathon.

The highway’s southbound lane will be closed from Sycamore Canyon Road to Carmel Valley Road. The California Highway Patrol will be using the northbound lane to lead caravans of traffic in alternating directions at three different intervals during that time. Motorists traveling in both directions should expect delays of up to two hours.

For more information about the marathon, call 625-6226 or visit the official race website.
