Local radio station KUSP wins Edward R. Murrow awards
Local radio station 88.9 KUSP has won two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television and Digital News Association.
The station’s website, kusp.org, earned an award for best broadcast-affiliated website.
The station also was recognized for its series of reports on Monterey Bay area water planning. The series, “The Water Squeeze,” won in the category of continuing audio coverage of a major developing issue.
“I’m very pleased that our team was recognized for ‘The Water Squeeze,’ which I think represents an original approach to reporting an important and sometimes controversial topic,” said General Manager Terry Green. “And I’m also happy that the judges honored kusp.org, which is the work of so many community volunteers working side-by-side with our professional news and digital staff.”
The annual Murrow awards honor news organizations for outstanding achievements in electronic journalism. Winners of regional awards will compete for nationwide awards, to be announced in June.
