Second shooting in Seaside neighborhood in less than 24 hours
Seaside police said a 20-year-old man, who was shot near a park at San Pablo Avenue and Noche Buena Street Wednesday evening and airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center, is in stable condition.
Officers were responding to reports of an altercation between between two groups on Noche Buena Street at 5:21 p.m., when they received the subsequent report of a shooting victim. Officers in the area also heard multiple gunshots. They found the man on the sidewalk, while witnesses said the suspects took off running south through the neighborhood. It is believed to be gang related.
The air ambulance landed at the nearby playground.
The scene is blocks from Tuesday night’s fatal shooting. Officers aren’t sure if the two crimes are related.
Neighbors told Central Coast News they believe people are coming to Seaside from Salinas to commit crimes.
As investigators processed the scene, a pair of sneakers rested on a sidewalk next to evidence markers.
