Salinas police investigating early morning drive-by shooting

Salinas police responded to reports of a drive-by shooting that occurred early Thursday morning on West Laurel Drive.

Police say a 44-year-old man was standing outside a business on the 100 block when a white, newer model Nissan Maxima or similar type sedan drove by, traveling eastbound. Without saying a word, the passenger fired one round that hit the business, near the top of the entryway. The man was not struck. The car was traveling eastbound.

A bullet casing was recovered and officers are actively searching for the suspect vehicle.
