Scotts Valley police: Drunk man steals beer, crashes car
Talk about karma.
Scotts Valley police say an intoxicated man stole beer from a gas station andf then got into a car accident 15 minutes later.
According to Sgt. Mike Dean, the man parked outside the 76 Gas Station on Mount Hermon Road around midnight Thursday and went inside the store. He selected a beer and went to pay for it but the cashier refused to sell it to him because the man appeared to be intoxicated.
An argument ensued and the man threatened to go retrieve a gun from his car. Fearing for his safety, the clerk stepped aside and the man grabbed beer from the store’s cooler and left without paying for it.
About 15 minutes later, the man crashed his car and had to be airlifted to a San Jose hospital.
The investigation is ongoing. The man’s name has not yet been released.
