Judge: Soledad prison nurse was framed in misconduct case

A Central California judge has concluded that a former prison nursing director who was accused of misconduct had been targeted by disgruntled colleagues.

Administrative Law Judge Perry O. Johnson said in a proposed decision made public this week that all the charges should be dropped against 58-year-old Angelia Britt, who was accused of falsifying medical records at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, Calif., to cover up thefts of pharmaceutical narcotics intended for inmates. Britt was also accused of falsifying time cards for a friend.

Johnson said the other nurses were angry because Britt was promoted to director. He also said a state investigator relied too heavily on their biased testimony.

The Monterey County Herald reports that Johnson’s ruling won’t be final until April 18, after the attorney general’s office responds to it.
