Parolee arrested in Greenfield after high-speed chase

Greenfield police arrested a convicted felon they say led an officer on a high-speed chase Monday night.

Around 10 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation on the 1200 block of Apple Avenue. The driver took off westbound at a high rate of speed with the officer following. After a short pursuit, the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran towards some small sheds and trailers. A foot chase ensued, and the officer was able to apprehend Jose Tinajero without further incident.

He was found in possession of a loaded handgun and ammunition. Officers determined he was on parole.

Tinajero was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, unlawful possession of a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felony in possession of ammunition, evading a peace officer and violating parole.
