Gonzales native honored by World Economic Forum
A Gonzales native has been named a 2014 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
Devry Boughner Vorwerk is currently the director of international business relations at Cargill. She joined the company in 2004, and is currently responsible for managing Cargill’s global government relations activities in Washington, D.C., directing corporate affairs for Latin America and managing Cargill’s international trade policy agenda.
Previously, Vorwerk worked at the U.S. International Trade commission and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, part of the executive office of the president. She holds a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University and bachelor’s degrees of science in agricultural economics and managerial economics from UC Davis.
Each year, the World Economic Forum selects Young Global Leaders to recognize the most distinguished leaders under the age of 40. The honor is given to people from all over the world in myriad sectors in recognition of their outstanding leadership and commitment to improving the state of the world.
“Young Global Leaders are not just exceptional people in their own right: they are leaders that already have a track record in improving the state of the world,” said David Aikman, managing director and head of the new champions at the World Economic Forum. “We welcome the Class of 2014 into our community and look forward to collectively engaging them to deliver change of genuine global significance.”
