Highway 101 back open after major accident

3:49PM UPDATE:

All Southbound lanes of Highway 101 at Crazy Horse Canyon Rd. are back open.

———————————————————————————

California Highway Patrol is on the scene of a major injury traffic accident that has closed all but one lane of 101 headed southbound at Crazy Horse Canyon Road.

Our crew arrived at the scene as CALSTAR landed.

CHP says a black Lexus hit the center divide then flipped onto its roof just after 3 Monday afternoon, sliding up to 75 feet. The driver is said to have a head injury and cuts and bruises.

According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information website, a big rig is blocking all southbound traffic. It’s not clear if the big rig was involved in the accident or if it’s blocking traffic as a result of the accident.

The page says the big rig’s position is restricting responders’ access.

CHP says it hopes to have one lane open shortly.
