Two People Arrested After the Jumped Out of a Car During a High Speed Chase

Two people were arrested after they jumped out of a moving vehicle trying to escape during a high-speed chase, said police.

Thursday a Greenfield police officer saw a gold 1998 Mazda on Elm Avenue and recognized the passenger as Israel Cota, a wanted felon.

Officers tried to get the driver to pull over but she sped off, said police.

Officers followed the car down several residential street reaching a speed of 80 mph, said police.

At the intersection of Elm Avenue and Second Street, police said Cota and the driver both jumped out of the moving vehicle.

Officers chased them both down and arrested them.

Cota was arrested for his past felony arrest warrants, resisting arrest, probation violations, and for being a felon in possession of body armor.

The driver, Maria Sanchez, was arrested for evading and resisting arrest, probation violations, past felony arrest warrants, driving on a suspended license and not having car insurance.
