Police: Gilroy Christmas Murder Suspect Arrested A Few Blocks Away From Crime Scene

Officers arrested the man they believe is responsible for a Christmas Day murder in Gilroy.

Officers were asking the public to be on the lookout for him as a suspect in a Christmas morning homicide that happened on the 8100 block of Kelton Drive.

A family returned home around 5:30 p.m. and found the victim, 21-year-old Alma Roque Ortega, already dead and their son, Ernesto Rodriguez, missing.

Police said that Ortega did not live at the house and had a criminal protective restraining order issued against Rodriguez.

Based on evidence at the scene, police believe that Rodriguez is a suspect in the murder.
