Former Judge To Make Bid For County Supervisor

Former Monterey County Judge John Phillips will announce his campaign Wednesday for Monterey County supervisor, District 2.

Phillips is making a bid for the non-partisan seat to replace outgoing Supervisor Lou Calcagno.

Former Salinas Mayor Dennis Donohue is expected to throw support behind Phillips’ campaign, along with current Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter.

Phillips is a longtime resident of Monterey County, having served as deputy district attorney, assistant district attorney, superior court judge and most recently as founder and president of Rancho Cielo Youth Campus.
