Driver Flees After Crash on Highway 101

California Highway Patrol is investigating a single-car accident that blocked traffic on Highway 101 Thursday night.

Police say the driver was headed south toward Boronda and hit a barrier, which caused the vehicle to overturn. Several witnesses said they saw the driver running across the freeway away from the accident. One caller reported the vehicle was on fire.

Officers later received a tip that the driver was at a nearby Denny’s. They responded to the location, but were unable to locate him.

CHP worked with CalTrans to clear debris from the road. No one was hurt in the accident.
