Monterey Bay F.C. plays to 2-2 draw in windy showdown with Rhode Island FC
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) - Monterey Bay's offseason additions continued to make a difference Sunday at Cardinale Stadium. Both goals in the 2-2 draw with Rhode Island came from the foot of a newcomer.
Carlos Guzman netted his first goal with the Crisp and Kelp while Tristan Trager scored his second.
Both goals ended up leveling the score. Guzman tied things up at 1-1 in the 45th minute and Trager evened out the match at 2-2 in the 72nd.
In what turned out to be a back-and-forth affair, Mother Nature ended up wreaking the most havoc with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. Head Coach Frank Yallop said it is hard to prepare for such a windy match.
"I'm pleased with the point, but conditions were tough," Yallop said. "The general play was tough with the windy conditions."
Despite overcoming two deficits, the match would end in a 2-2 draw. The Union improved to 1-0-2, adding a fifth point on the season. Up next, Monterey Bay F.C. will hit the road for two weeks starting with a match against San Antonio on March 30.
