Monterey County deputies respond to reports of a body found at Marina State Beach
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office announced that they received reports of a possible body floating in the water around four miles off the coastline at Marina State Beach around 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
Deputies say that the report came from the crew of a local whale watching tour boat, and after receiving it, they say the Coast Guard responded to the area but did not find a body.
On December 23 around 2 p.m., the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male
subject that had been swept off a rock along 17-Mile-Drive near Point Joe, after being hit by a sneaker wave.

Deputies say that about two hours earlier, Marina police received a report of a second person who was also swept out to sea. They said that person was also not found.
The sheriff's office says that weather conditions on that day were not suitable for safe searches and active search efforts by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office have been suspended.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement say that they will investigate any reported sightings of human remains made to 9-1-1.
