Pet of the Week: Meet Moonlight!

Our Pet of the Week is Moonlight, a beautiful young mama cat. Compassionate agricultural workers found Moonlight in an area not far from where the Metz Fire was outside of Greenfield, and she was underweight from caring for five kittens. They fed her until she was comfortable with them, after which they reached out to ONPP to rescue Moonlight and her kittens from their stressful life. Now that Moonlight’s kittens have been adopted, she’s also ready for her own furrever home.

Moonlight is a long-haired mix of black and chocolate patches who loves being around people and getting attention. We estimate that she is about a year old and have ensured that this young cat will not be having any more kittens. Moonlight is very friendly and will chirp and chirp until she succeeds in getting pets and cuddles. She is active and quite playful, chasing after cat toys and balls. Moonlight has been living with other foster kittens, and immediately expressed interest in them as soon as she arrived. In less than 24 hours, she was grooming the youngest foster kittens! Playtime with the other kittens is quite
entertaining.

Although Moonlight has not become comfortable enough to be a lap cat yet, she will reward you with very loud purrs when you pet her, and has no issues with being picked up. Because of her background, Moonlight would be fine as an indoor or indoor/outdoor cat, once her home boundaries have been established. She will likely adapt quickly to the presence of other cats and would thrive in a high energy home with plenty of time to give her. Our Neighborhood Pet Project's next adoption event will be their monthly presence at the Salinas Farmers Market on Saturday, November 9th, from 10 am until 2 pm. We’ll have both cats and dogs of all ages attending, and we encourage you to stop by and meet the newest adoptable kittens and puppies!
