Sebastopol Police on a wild piglet chase to get Pickles
SEBASTOPOL, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Sebastopol Police were on a wild piglet chase Thursday afternoon after an escaped pet piglet named Pickles broke free.
"Sebastopol Police dispatch received multiple calls reporting a piglet running in and out of the roadway in the 800 block of Gravenstein Highway North," wrote Sebastopol Police Department on Facebook.
Officers made several attempts to catch Pickles, but the piglet proved to be strong and fast, darting away from the officers. According to the Sebastopol Police, bystanders and officers joined forces to try and capture Pickles, running through multiple city blocks before capturing the piglet in a side yard on Soll Court.
Pickles was "taken into custody," according to Sebastopol Police, and reunited with his mother on the scene.
No officer or piglet were injured during the chase. And although the officers involved -- Whitehall and Thomas -- chose not to charge Pickles with 148(a)(1) PC - (Resisting a peace officer), they "felt it was beneficial to just admonish Pickles for running from officers!"
Sebastopol Police would like to thank Pickles' mom and captor, Michael W., for helping retrieve the piglet.
