CASTROVILLE, Calif. (KION) SPCA for Monterey County said it will be hosting a free pet food bank event in Castroville Saturday.

The organization will hand out free pet food between 10 and 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, but it open to pet owners in any city. Anyone in need of pet food can have two weeks of food loaded into their vehicles on a first come, first served basis.

The SPCA also holds pet food drives every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at its location on Highway 68. So far, the organization said it has handed out 55,000 pounds of pet food since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Anyone who would like to help can have pet food delivered to 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway, Salinas, CA 93908, shop on the SPCA's Amazon wish list or donate online.
