Salinas police to host drive-thru Halloween event at new Police Service Headquarters
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) The Salinas Police Department is hosting a drive-thru Halloween event that will include costume contests, a vehicle decorating contest and plenty of treat bags.
When people arrive, vehicles will be directed to a drop off point for participating costumed children. When they are dropped off, they will receive a treat bag, be judged on their costume and have their photos taken. Photos of those participating and contest winners will be announced online. When they are finished, the children will go to a pickup area to meet their parents.
Participants will be judged for scariest costume, best police officer costume and most creative costume.
Children can also enter a drawing contest with the theme "Design a Superhero Costume for your Police Officers. The entry should be emailed with the entrant's name, age and phone number to marthag@ci.salinas.ca.us. The contest is open to those aged 17 and under.
To register a vehicle for the decorating contest, fill out the form here. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Thursday. Occupants will not be allowed to leave the vehicle, and if the trunk is decorated, it must be able to be opened from the inside. All of the vehicles must have at least one participating child.
Entry to the event will be off Work Street from John Street.
The event will be held at the Police Service Headquarters on E. Alisal Street Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.
Everyone will be required to wear a face covering and maintain physical distance.
