Drones assist Hollister Police in locating a suspect who fled

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Hollister Police announced Friday that, with the help of a drone, they were able to locate a suspect, 31-year-old Luis Felipe Abonce-Ramiez, who fled and climbed the roof on an apartment complex.

They said it was the very early hours of Thursday morning, around 1 a.m., when an officer on patrol noticed a man on a bike near Rajkovich Drive and Fourth Street breaking a violation code.

According to police, the man fled the area and tried hiding in an apartment complex on Miller Road and Fourth Street.

After calling in reinforcements from San Benito County Sheriff's Office, Hollister police say that they saw the man on an apartment rooftop and so they deployed drones.

They say that the man was eventually located hiding in a maintenance section of the building.

According to police, Abonce-Ramirez had narcotics and paraphernalia on his person in addition to two warrants for his arrest.

Police say that Abonce-Ramirez was later booked at the San Benito County Jail on drug charges, local
warrants and resisting arrest.
