Baymonte Christian School reopens for in-person classes
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION) Baymonte Christian School began offering in-person classes Monday, and Scotts Valley Police shared pictures of the first day.
Police helped direct traffic as children walked to and from campus.
Santa Cruz County was moved from the purple tier to the red tier of the state's "Blueprint for a Safer Economy" system on Sept. 8. When a county has been in the red tier for at least a week, schools are allowed reopen for in-person learning, but local school boards and administrators would need to approve the decision.
Schools that have reopened still need to follow state guidelines and make changes that include frequent disinfection and face coverings for some grades.
Counties in the red tier are also allowed to open personal care services, movie theaters, gyms, places of worship, museums, zoos, aquariums and restaurants indoors with modifications.
