City of Watsonville to issue tickets for not wearing face covering

Face coverings made mandatory in Salinas

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION) The City of Watsonville said it will begin issuing tickets to people not wearing face coverings in public starting Tuesday.

The city said it decided to issue citations because of the rising number of COVID-19 cases around the state, and it has been educating community members about their importance.

For the first offence, people not wearing a face covering in public can expect a $100 citation. A second offence is a $200 citation, and the third offense is a $500 citation.

To report someone violating the order, you are asked to call 831-471-1151.
