Monterey County announces closure or limited access of state, local beaches over holiday weekend

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Monterey County announced that beaches in the county will be closed or have limited access over the long Fourth of July weekend.

The cities of Pacific Grove, Carmel, Monterey and the Pebble Beach Company already announced beach closures, and State beaches will close because the County is closing beaches. State beach parking lots were already closed for vehicle access.

In Monterey and Pacific Grove, beaches are closed, but ocean activity is still allowed. Pebble Beach said 17 Mile Drive will be closed to all tourist traffic, and all beaches and ocean activity will be closed.

Closures are expected to begin Friday and continue through Sunday.
