SAN FRANCISCO (KION) Organizers of the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco say this year's event is canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was scheduled to be held Aug. 7-9 at Golden Gate Park, but tickets for next year's event go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The festival in 2021 will be held Aug. 6-8, and some of the headliners include Lizzo, Tame Impala, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend and The 1975.

"We can’t wait to be back in Golden Gate Park with you, enjoying the best in music, food, beer, wine, art, cannabis and more for what we know will be our best year yet," the Outside Lands Festival Team said in a statement.

Those who bought passes for this year's event will have those passes honored at next year's festival. Those who choose to rollover to 2021 will get contesting for upgrades, giveaways and more over the next year.

Pass holders who are not able to go to next year's event have until July 24 to request a refund.
