Monterey Bay Aquarium releases guidelines ahead of reopening

Aquarium delays its reopening
KION

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that several new business sectors will be allowed to reopen starting Friday if approved by the counties, and aquariums were among them.

In response, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has released guidelines for reopening.

The aquarium said the reopening date has not been decided yet, but will be released once it is confirmed. When it reopens, the number of guests allowed in will be limited to 250 per hour using timed tickets.

Staff and visitors will be required to wear face coverings and practice physical distancing, according to the aquarium, and to encourage physical distancing among guests, there will be a one-way path. They will be encouraged to spend time outside on the Tidepool Deck, and high-touch areas will remain closed. Narrated feeding programs will also be suspended.

When the aquarium reopens, the first few days will be open to members only.
