SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Gov. Gavin Newsom said he would add more than 80 new COVID-19 testing sites around the state, and one of them will be in San Benito County.

The county will be hosting the testing at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Hollister. Testing will be done Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The testing will be open to all San Benito County residents, but the county said underserved populations, healthcare employees, essential workers, those aged 60 or older and those will chronic illnesses will be the focus.

Testing is by appointment only, and those interested can call 888-634-1123 or online here.

“This testing site will help San Benito County dramatically increase testing for some of our most at-risk community members – our healthcare and other essential workers,” said David Ghilarducci, M.D., the San Benito County Health Officer.

This site is not the only one of its kind on the Central Coast. Testing sites that are part of the pledge are opening at the Ramsay Park Family Center in Watsonville, the Greenfield branch of the Monterey County Free Libraries and Alisal High School in Salinas.
