County Officials: Santa Cruz County to extend Shelter in Place order
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) County Supervisor John Leopold and Communications Manager Jason Hoppin tell KION that Santa Cruz County will extend its Shelter in Place order later this week.
Right now, the order is set to expire on May 3.
They said the order will be similar to new Bay Area Shelter in Place orders announced earlier Monday. Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties announced jointly that they will be issuing revised Shelter in Place orders later this week. They said the orders are expected to ease some restrictions for lower-risk activities, but more details will be shared later this week.
On April 16, Santa Cruz County Public Health Officer Dr. Gail Newel said the county might lift some of its Shelter in Place restrictions when the current order ends.
