County looking for volunteers as it prepares to open Marina alternate care site
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Monterey County Office of Emergency Services is preparing to open a COVID-19 alternate care site in Marina, and it is looking for volunteers for a variety of roles.
The facility at the Marina airport is set to open May 4. The county said it is a transitional facility for COVID-19 patients who have been discharged from the hospital, but still need care that they cannot get at home. It said the site is not a walk up clinic, but an extension of county hospitals.
The county is looking for volunteers with medical experience, including:
- Physicians
- Physician assistants
- Nurse practitioners
- Nurses
- Nursing assistants
- Medical assistants
- Licensed vocational nurses
- EMTs and paramedics
- Pharmacists
- Pharmacy technicians
- Medical interpreters
- Medical record clerks or scribes
- Registration or admitting clerks
- Information technology personnel
- Social workers
- Case managers or discharge planners
- Dietitians
The county is also looking for volunteers who may not have medical experience to help with food running, facility maintenance and other administrative or support functions.
Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to fill out the application here. Applicants will be asked to fill out questions about skills and availability.
