Recalled Tanimura & Antle romaine lettuce

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it is recalling some of its packaged romaine lettuce due to potential E. coli contamination.

The recall applies to packaged single head romaine lettuce under the Tanimura & Antle packaged on 10/15/2020 or 10/16/2020. The packages have the UPC number 0-27918-20314-9. None of its other products or pack dates have been recalled.

The company decided to recall the lettuce after a random sample in Michigan tested positive for E. coli. There have not been any reported illnesses associated with the recalled lettuce.

The FDA said 3,396 cartons of the product that may be affected was distributed in multiple states, including California.

Because of the shelf life,Tanimura & Antle said it is unlikely that the recalled lettuce is still available at stores, but anyone who has it is warned to throw it away and not eat it.
