MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Anyone who has received an Advoque N95 mask from the County of Monterey Agricultural Commissioner's Office is asked to immediately stop using it.

The state has received a notice from Advoque Safeguard saying that the mask with model number ADV001 is no longer Niosh-approved. That means that the masks with approval number TC-84A-PH02 should no longer be distributed and used as an N95 level respirator.

The Agricultural Commissioner's Office said that while the masks can still be used as face coverings, the state is asking for the masks to be removed from circulation because the stamp marking it as N95 may confuse people about whether it is effective as a respirator.

Unused N95 masks can be dropped of at the Salinas office located at 1428 Abbott Street. The office said that if replacements are available in the future, those people will be contacted to get a replacement.
