MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Dr. Edward Moreno with the Monterey County Health Department reports that they have seen clusters of COVID-19 cases in the county.

He did not release how many people were infected or in which part of the county, but he said they came as a result of weekend events, including Mother's Day gatherings.

Moreno said health officials spoke to people diagnosed with the virus and found that they had come into contact with other infected people while meeting in groups.

Health officials warn that this shows the importance of continuing to stay at home and avoid gatherings.
