MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Monterey County health officials announced that the county will be allowing limited re-openings as the state moves into Stage 2 of reopening.

Health Officer Dr. Edward Moreno issued a supplement to the current Shelter in Place order allowing some businesses to reopen.

Starting Friday, some retail businesses may offer curbside pickup. Some of the businesses that may open include book, clothing, florist and sporting good stores. Manufacturing and supply chain workplaces can also reopen, but in all cases, social distancing protocols must be followed.

Orders can be placed at the businesses online or via phone, but items cannot be displayed on sidewalks.

Malls, dine-in restaurant services, hair salons, nail salons and movie theaters will not be allowed to open.

The Shelter in Place order issued on May 4 is still in effect with the supplement.
