Salinas Warming Shelter gets new shower trailer
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) As the COVID-19 pandemic grew, the Salinas Warming Shelter expanded its hours, but now people sheltering in place there have a new way to maintain hygiene.
The Monterey County Health Department, the Social Services Department and the Resource Management Agency worked together to get a shower trailer.
The trailer, which includes five regular showers and one handicapped shower, is now in place at the shelter.
There have not been showers there up to this point because the building used to be county offices.
The 65 residents at the shelter will be showering in shifts to make sure everyone gets a turn, according to the county.
