Hundreds of masks and other equipment donated to Santa Cruz County
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) After reaching out to the community asking for donations, the County of Santa Cruz said it has received between 700 and 800 N95 masks and other equipment for local health care workers.
The county said 58 community members and local businesses have donated so far.
Last week, the county shared an online system for donations because the demand for protective equipment as health care infrastructure around the country prepares for a surge of coronavirus patients.
The county said it was looking for these supplies:
- Eye protection, such as goggles or face shields
- Antibacterial and disinfecting wipes that are unopened. They are usually alcohol or bleach based. This does not include baby wipes.
- N95 and surgical masks in unopened containers
- Medical gowns, including disposable ones and cloth surgical and hospital gowns in good condition.
