SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. (CBS SF and AP) https://livestream.com/accounts/25723746/events/8522569/videos/202372861 The CBS affiliate in the Bay Area confirmed with health officials that there is a third confirmed coronavirus case in Santa Clara County.
Health officials are working to find out where the patient contracted the virus.
KPIX reports that one person with the virus recovered after being self-quarantined at home, and as of last week, the third person was still being treated. Both had recently traveled to the U.S. from China.
The case adds to the more than 30 who've had the virus in California. The Associated Press reports that residents in Northern California are at the epicenter of what officials are calling a turning point in the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus in the U.S. Investigators are rushing to retrace the steps of a patient they believe to be the first known person in the U.S. to be infected without traveling internationally or being in close contact with anyone who had it. The woman first went to the hospital in Vacaville.
