Suspect arrested in Gilroy robbery and carjacking

GILROY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Gilroy Police announced Friday that they arrested a juvenile suspect involved in a robbery and carjacking on August 27 around 8 p.m.

They say that the incident happened at the 7400 block of Railroad Street, where a victim was sitting in his vehicle and was approached by multiple suspects, one who had a firearm.

Gilroy Police say that the suspects took the victim's personal property and then proceeded to still his vehicle. Although the vehicle was located on Walnut Lane, police say that the suspects were not found.

Gilroy Detectives say that they identified one of the suspects and on September 18 Gilroy/Morgan Hill SWAT members served a 16-year-old male on the block of 7500 Alexander Street in Gilroy a search warrant. Police say that he was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Detention Center.

The case is still being investigated by Gilroy Police and they are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Jason Greathead at 408-846-0373, or anonymously by calling 408-846-0330.
