SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KTBS) — The mystery of who is responsible for an oil spill on Twelve Mile Bayou over the weekend remains. Caddo Parish sheriff’s deputies discovered the spill over the weekend. Oil was found as far south as state Highway173 near Dixie Blanchard Road. Deputies traced the oil about nine miles north to a location just south of state Highway 530 on Black Bayou.
By Monday morning, all of the oil had been cleaned up under the direction of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, which initiated an investigation. DEQ regional manager Mark Juneau told KTBS about three barrels of light crude oil was spilled. Three local oil companies worked together to clean up the oil under the DEQ’s direction.
The question they are still trying to figure out is what everybody wants to know: Where did the oil come from? Juneau said as of now the source is still unknown.
