Carmel to discuss the amount and locations of the city’s Flock cameras Tuesday

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Carmel residents will get an update on the amount of Flock license plate reading cameras being installed in the city on Tuesday.

The current Flock cameras have been in Carmel since April of 2023 and it wasn't until recently that community members shared their privacy concerns to city officials.

Public concern was brought up while police were discussing raising the number of cameras throughout the city.

Tuesday's ad hoc committee will address some concerns that were brought up in the community at the June 10 meeting about Flock cameras. They will discuss whether to have the cameras installed in the business or residential district.

The amount of Flock cameras will also be discussed in the meeting Tuesday.

The meeting is taking place at 4 p.m. at the council chambers.
