NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — The emir of Qatar is looking to invest in energy and high-tech in Cyprus — projects seen as having a strong economic potential. A Cypriot official says that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is also interested in investing in Cypriot ports and banking institutions. Al Thani visited the east Mediterranean island nation on Tuesday for the first time, following an invitation of Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. The official says the two countries agreed set up a working group to gauge progress made in forging closer economic and political ties.
