WASHINGTON (AP) — An attorney who once sued unsuccessfully to overturn former President Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election is being released from custody after promising a federal judge she would drive back to Michigan and turn herself in to authorities. Stefanie Lambert was arrested Monday night after appearing in a separate case in federal court in Washington, D.C. She was defending her conduct in a defamation claim filed by a voting machine company. Lambert already faces four felony charges in Michigan for allegedly improperly accessing voting equipment in a search to uncover evidence of a conspiracy to steal the election from Trump. A Michigan judge had issued a bench warrant for her after Lambert failed to appear at a hearing, leading to her arrest.
