FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams has pushed back against efforts to eliminate three days of early voting in the Bluegrass State. His comments expose fissures within Republican ranks in a state that has avoided fights over election rules that erupted elsewhere. Speaking to a legislative panel Thursday, Adams urged lawmakers to “not go backwards.” He was defending the law allowing no-excuse, in-person early voting on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before an election. The bill’s lead sponsor is Republican Sen. John Schickel. He has made speeches promoting the bill, which has been sent to a committee.
