ROME (AP) — The pope has accepted the resignation of a Polish bishop whose diocese has been rocked for weeks by reports of a sex party in a priest’s apartment involving a male prostitute. The Vatican didn’t give a reason for the bishop’s resignation, but his diocese has been in the spotlight for over a month after one of his priests was placed under criminal investigation following an incident at his apartment. Polish media reported that a participant in a sex party collapsed after overdosing on erectile dysfunction pills. Prosecutors said the investigation focused on a “failure to provide assistance to a person in a situation that poses an immediate threat of loss of life or serious damage to health.”
