Man stopped near Michigan governor’s home worked on research against Democrats, report says

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Police say a man dressed in black who works for a group that conducts opposition research on Democrats was stopped while climbing a bluff near the Michigan governor’s summer home. The Associated Press obtained a report on the August incident Tuesday. The man’s name was not released, though he said he worked for America Rising, a Republican opposition group. The investigation has been closed with no charges. The man said he wanted to take pictures of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and any visiting politicians and meant no harm. America Rising says the man no longer works there.
