Salinas man killed in crash along South Main Street

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Investigators have identified the Salinas man killed in a crash along South Main Street and Romie Lane on Saturday night.

Salinas Police said the crash happened around 8 p.m. The Coroner's office identified the victim as Richard Shannon.

Shannon was killed after crashing his car into a tree in the area.

According to investigators, no drugs or alcohol are suspected to have played a role in the crash but the Monterey County Sheriff's Office said the victim wasn't wearing his seat belt.
