Salinas Police arrest gang members and seize loaded gun
The Salinas Police Department highlights another gun taken off the street. The weapon was found in a vehicle, Friday, in a car that took off outside a home where the Violence Suppression Task Force (VSTF) was preparing to serve a search warrant.
SPD says the officers stopped the vehicle, but the driver put the car in reverse and drove off, nearly striking an officer. A pit maneuver was used to stop the fleeing car and the driver was taken into custody. Inside the vehicle, SPD says they found a loaded, unregistered Glock handgun and items pointing to gang affiliation.
The VSTF returned to serve the search warrant on the 800 block of Garden Way. Six other people were taken into custody including two people that, Salinas police say, are active gang members.
Charges include “felon in possession of a firearm, possession of controlled substance with a firearm, maintaining a drug house, and vehicle pursuit,” according to the release.
