Foggy weather brings concerns to workers completing construction projects
As construction continues on a number of overnight projects on the Central Coast, it’s hard not to notice the fog that’s taking over the setting in some areas, too.
One area is Hall Road near Las Lomas. The last few weeks has seen the westbound lane closed, with traffic from both directions having to share the eastbound lanes intermittently overnight.
The signage warning drivers of this adjustment is up a couple of miles in advance, however a construction company owner is concerned this might result in an accident if visibility continues to be an issue.
“Any kind of a weather condition where it hampers a driver’s ability to see and control their automobile in a changing condition is a bad idea,” says Don Chapin with Don Chapin Company.
The CHP and Caltrans say if the signage is up and drivers are traveling at a low enough speed, they should be able to notice when there’d an adjustment they have to make to their driving behavior.
They say drivers should allow for a good enough stopping distance to allow them to pump the brakes when need-be.
Chapin agrees, while also adding another note to prevent headaches and even tragedy from occurring.
“The most important thing is to just slow down.”
