One dead in car crash on Carmel Valley Road
CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) UPDATE Oct. 27, 2022, at 12:10 p.m.- California Highway Patrol has released new details on a crash involving two vehicles on Carmel Valley Road from Wednesday.
CHP says that at 3:19 p.m., a 2021 Dodge Durango driven by a 52-year-old Carmel resident was speeding while approaching Rio Road. The Dodge crashed into a 2018 Porsche that was traveling northbound on Rio Road and turning onto Carmel Valley Road.
The Dodge driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his car during the crash, said CHP. The Dodge driver died of their injuries.
The 70-year-old Carmel resident driving the Porsche spun out of control but suffered no injuries, said CHP. They were wearing their seatbelt.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash, said CHP. The Dodge driver's identity is pending notification of next of kin.

CHP confirmed to KION that there is a fatality on Carmel Valley Road. Officers are working on getting more information at this time.
According to CHP, there is at least one vehicle involved, and it swerved off the road at around 3:20 p.m.. The crash happened at the intersection of Carmel Valley Road and Pacific Meadow Lane.
There is no word on traffic closures at this time.
