Hollister police arrest man on suspicion of battery and burglary

Hollister police arrested a man who allegedly entered a business, battered employees and tried to take items.

Officers responded to a call from a business in the 700 block of Sally Street at around 6:05 a.m. on Aug. 11. They told police a man had broken into the business and battered an employee before running away.

The business manager told police that when he got there, the lights were on and some of the interior doors were open. He said he did not think anything of it until he saw the suspect, who police later said was 47-year-old Angel Aguero, walking through the business.

The manager told officers that he asked Aguero, who is a transient in the area, what he was doing. The manager said Aguero told him repeatedly that he was the owner and began to fight with the manager. Police said another employee tried to help the manager, and Aguero left.

Officers said Aguero took items from the break room and tried to take some equipment. Aguero was found shortly after and arrested. He was booked on burglary and battery charges.
