Watsonville man airlifted to hospital after major injury crash

A Watsonville man was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries after a crash on Highway 1 Thursday evening.

At around 9:10 p.m., CHP officers responded to a crash on southbound Highway 1 north of Park Avenue. The CHP said the driver, a 20-year-old man from Watsonville, was driving southbound and lost control for unknown reasons.

The Jeep he was driving hit the center median, and the impact caused the vehicle to overturn into a northbound lane.

The driver had major injuries and was airlifted to Valley Medical Center. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
